Teacher Appreciation Week - Day 5

Happy Teacher Appreciation week! Every day this week, I will have a new mini game that will be a freebie for the entire week. You can pick it up in my TPT store. In addition, I will giving away a game of your choice from my TPT Store.

Here's your last freebie of the week:
Reading Comprehension - Little Red Riding Hood!

Reading comprehension! Something I have yet to tackle, but I think it's about time to start! What better place to start than with fairy tales? Let's start with Little Red Riding Hood.

In this mini game, students will answer questions about the story "Little Red Riding Hood". There are 10 questions in all.

Some questions have one answer while other questions have multiple answers. Each questions and its answers are animated.

I included story element questions as well (setting, characters, author's message, etc). Because there are so many different version of  "Little Red Riding Hood", this game is editable so you can adjust your answers to fit the version you're reading to your students. I've read one version that has a huntsman instead of woodsman. I read another version where after the wolf ate little Red Riding Hood, the woodsman used scissors to cut her and her grandmother out of the wolf's stomach.

The last question I left without an answer because there are so many answers  a student could give. If you like to add an answer, simply copy  an answer and the answer button from a previous slide and paste it to the bottom of the slide. Don't forget to change the answer.

This game will be great for guided reading groups. Don't forget to leave some feedback. I plan to make this game part of a Reading Comprehension: Fairy Tale Bundle on sale now.

Don't forget to enter to win a free game of your choice from my TPT Store on Facebook. Enjoy your weekend and Happy Mother's Day. You deserve it!

Photo Contest Begins!

As some of you know (or may not know) I'm currently not teaching at the moment due a seizure I had in July. There are a few things I miss about being in the classroom. One of them is working with students. I still see them occasionally when I go out and they say they miss me, even though they're not in my class anymore. Another thing I miss is my own students using my products. They would ask me almost every day if we were going to play a Teacher vs Student game or a Jeopardy game. That's how Powerpoint Gaming came to be. I miss it so much, but have come up with a idea that can benefit me as well as you!

Ladies and gentleman, may I present the Classroom Photo Contest!

The rules are simple! Just submit 1 to 5 pictures by the 15th of every month. I will go through the entries and choose the best photo. The winner will receive a $25  Teachers Pay Teachers Gift certificate, a $10 shopping spree in my TPT Store, as well as a blog post about the picture.

Pictures can be students engaged in an activity, you and students playing a game, or even a bulletin board you've created using one of my products. The more picture you enter, the better your chances.

Each contest starts on the 20th of each month and ends the 15th of the following month. The 16th through 19th allows me to judge the entries, contact the winner, and prepare the post. The winner will be announced on the 20th along  with the start of a new entry cycle. You can enter once every month (unless you win, then you cannot enter the following month).

Pictures can by submitted by clicking on "Fun Giveaways" on the left side of the screen and clicking on "January Picture Submission Open!"

You can view the official rules and guidelines here.

So what are you waiting for! I wanna see my products in action!

What kinda a week its been!

I started off last week with such a bang! I had to share it.

Sunday morning, I awoke and looked at my cellphone. It was Sunday, my best day for sales on TPT. I was shocked. 19 emails?! 19?! I had to sit up straight to make sure it was real. I looked at a say majority of was feedback for one of my freebies. That could only mean one things: One of my freebies made it into the weekly newsletter! Hallelujah! I had been trying for the past couple of weeks, nit really caring if I made it in or not (after weeks of trying with no success). I know it would help with sales, followers, and such. BOY DID IT EVER!
Here's the product that made it into the weekly newsletter.

Monday afternoon
Before Sunday, I have 67 followers and about 650 votes. By the end of the Monday, I had well over 100 followers and were up to 760 votes. Sales went up too.

Tuesday and Wednesday
I live in North Carolina so any mention of the word "snow" and our government shuts down. That's exactly what happened. It was nice to get some work done. Every once and a while. . . .

Thursday
This was unexpected as well, but all the same a nice gift. We usually get paid around the 15th of each month so I wasn't expecting any payment yet. Like before, I got an email on my phone, stating "You've received money" from Paypal.  Needless to say, I was excited. It was the first time since we get paid monthly that I have had over $200 (short $5 of$300). I was so happy.

I made a  promise to myself that if I ever made to $200 or more, I would buy a premium account. And that's exactly what I did. The first thing I purchased was a premium account that, by now, has already paid for itself.

Also, sometime between Thursday and Tuesday,  I sold my 3,000 item. =)

Friday
This day isn't usually the best day for my sales. Nevertheless, I paid to promote one of my packets. I  had done Kindergarten before and it had done okay. It did excellent considering I now had a premium account and the sale cost was $10.  I ended up making more money on this one day alone than I have ant ANY other time, including site wide sales and black Friday.

On a more personal note, I live with my sister and her family. I have 2 beautiful nephews and 1 gorgeous niece. Since it's Valentine's Day weekend, the grandmother decided to take them for the weekend.  We had a Kid-Free weekend. That was nice too!

Saturday and Sunday
To end such a perfect week, I threw a sale. Now, I had planned this sale about a week and a half ago, before I knew my product was going to be in the newsletter. If I had known, I would have waited to send out my monthly newsletter, but I sent it out right before so I had not way to address my new followers. Hopefully, they're following me now! =)

I hit so many milestones this week that I'm planning a huge giveaway with multiple winners and multiple products. Check back here in a day or two. I'm gonna need some help planning this!

Hope you enjoyed reading about my wonderful week.

First time Promo, Stupendous Story Elements, and PPT Games

First time Promo!

I've been on TpT since 2011. 2 years since I found this wonderful website. Today, I tried something risky but in the end, I think it was worth it. On TpT, you can promote your products and was always anxious. It seemed like a long shot. What if it doesn't pay off? What if you don't make any sales?

I'm glad I waited til now.

I waited until I had a good enough product to attract sellers. Boy, did I score with this one. I made a Kindergarten bundle that includes over 100 worksheets and a few games. I based everything on the common core and looking at examples from a pdf our state gave us. I was impressed with myself  when it was finished.

Kindergarten Math Winter Packet

I decided it would be good to promote my first grade-level appropriate bundle. I posted my product and it was slowly viewed. Within a week, someone wish listed it, which made me smile. When the first teacher purchased it, I was overjoyed. When another person purchased, I was relieved. It decided: let's promote it!

There were many reasons why I waited to so long to promote something on TpT was: 1.) I didn't know how, 2.)I didn't think I had a really good product worth promoting yet, 3.) I was scared and nervous, and 4.) I didn't have a lot on income from the products on TpT.

Now it's up and teachers are purchasing it left and right! Very please with myself that I'm currently working on 2nd grade math. I completed 1st Grade a few days ago and its up and available.

Great Finds-Stupendous Story Elements

Switching from Non-fiction or fiction is an easy task. Finding worksheets and organizers for them, not so much. There are a lot of websites that offer free organizers that are plain and simple. I came across this while searching for some new organizers. This 34 page pdf includes worksheets, templates, posters, even a game for students to play during snack time. These worksheets are more appeasing to the eyes than traditional organizers. Anything to keep students engaged. Best of all: its free!

My featured Product - 3rd Grade Fraction Jeopardy-Like PowerPoint Game

My best seller! This PowerPoint game I created while I was a 3-5 tutor. It's a jeopardy review game that covers all areas of fractions for 3rd grade including identifying fractions, fraction of a set, equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, ordering fractions, and add/subtract fractions. There's even a type in scoreboard for you to keep while in "Slideshow Mode". The boxes disappear after you've click on them to eliminate repeat questions. 30 questions in all. Perfect for review. All this for only $1.

Class Dismissed!
