You Ought to know About NatGeo Young Explorer!

If science isn't really your forte (I know it's not mine), then you ought to know about NatGeo Young Explorer!
Finding science materials can be hard enough. Finding online sites are even harder. NatGeo Young Explorer is a great science reading site.
You can click on "Read the Story" and the issues can read to the students or the students can read it themselves.
There are 3 to 4 topics per issues. You can read them with your students or have them read individually. (Perfect for substitutes too!)

You can click on "Story Calender" to find out what each month's issues will include. Great for planning ahead.
You can click on "More Issues" to get more issues from previous years (all the way back to 2009).
You can click on "For Teachers" to get lesson plans and worksheets. Even interactive whiteboard lessons.
Non-subscribers can these resources each month for free (as they appear). Subscribers can get download resources from previous issues.

Be sure to check back every month for those free resources on NatGeo! Don't forget to hop on over to other bloggers for more classroom tips!

New Feature: Touch Scoreboards

An issue has been arising in some of my games. The type-in scoreboard isn't working. That bums me out!  It's one of my favorite parts of my powerpoint game. I came up with a new scoreboard that is more student-friendly and easier to use!
Introducing the Touch Scoreboard!

With the touch scoreboard, all you have to do is simply touch (if you're using a Smartboard, Activboard, promethean board, or mimeo) or click (if you’re using a laptop and projector).

The scores will only go up so points cannot be taken away. This makes it great for student centers!
The touch scoreboard will be particularly useful for students vs. students games as you can let your students play my games without worrying about something  happening to your laptop!
For future reference, the touch scoreboard will be the scoreboard used in all Mac games. I'm still working on type in scoreboards for Mac.
I will be adding this feature to all my future products. Now, instead of 1 game, you’ll get 2 games: a type-in scoreboard and a touch scoreboard. Over the summer and by request, I will be adding this update to past games!

Class Dismissed!
