New Gaming Features: Tie Breakers and Help!

While working with students in math, sometimes they need a little help or they need a tie breaking question. I decided that these features can (and should) be included in my games!

For my games that are Student vs. Student, there can be an even amount of questions for each team. Sometimes a tie breaker question is needed, especially if the score is even. It happens every once in a while for my kids and I'm sure it happens in yours so I've decided to add a "Tie Breaker" question to my future games.

The first games to include this feature are: Name that State! Game Series and Adding within 20 - Fall Edition.

There are 2 kinds of buttons. One button is included in the question board. It's labeled with a "T". The second is a button that  will be included with the "Done" and "Stop" buttons. This one is labeled "Tie?".

The tie breaker question is a little harder than the other questions. For example, in Name that State, it asks for a state's capital. This should help make a clear winner. This feature will be included in future games including Teacher vs. Student, Student vs Student, and other question-games.

OMG. When students ask for a hint or clue during a game, it drives me bonkers! I decided to incorporate hints/clues into future games as well but only where necessary. If a hint will give the answer away, I see no point in a hint.

Anyway, there is a "I need help" button on a few of the slides. Hints depend on the subject, the topic, and the game type. For example, math games may include a formula or reading comprehension games may reveal a sentence where the answer is located.

The first game to include this feature is my Adding within 5 - Fall edition. I will be adding it to many others as well.

Let me know how these games are by commenting below and if the "tie breakers" and "I need help" buttons help!

Class Dismissed.

New Games: Counting Pumpkins and Fry's 2nd 100 Words

It's only September and already fall products are already hitting TPT! GOOD GOSH! I  guess I'll join the crowd and start making fall products!

My first game for the fall is a math counting game. Easy to use. Students simply count the number of pumpkins.

There are 20 questions in all. This is a Teacher vs. Student game. If you don't know what that is, it's basically the students competing against the teacher aka YOU! They answer the questions and they get points for right answers. You as the teacher only get points when they miss an answer. No work for you, unless you count using the board.

There are 2 types of questions. Questions where the pumpkins are scattered and Questions where pumpkins are grouped or in rows. Again, students just count them for the answer. They can touch the board and the slide won't move. This is very helpful to those who need to touch to count.

You can purchase this game here for $2.

The next game or, or games I should say, are the Fry Words 2nd Hundred Flash Card Set. I posted a survey some time ago asking teacher what games they wanted to see be made. Someone  asked about Fry words. The first thing that came to mind was Fry from Futurama. But I looked into it and they were basically sight words.

This set includes 9 powerpoints: 4 Lists in D'Nealian font and 4 List in Zaner Bloser (Manuscript) font. I've also included a blank editable PPT to customize your lists.

If you missed out on the first set, it's in my TPT store. I also have a freebie of the very first 25 words so that you can see how the flash cards work.

You can choose from Zaner-Bloser Font (Manuscript Font).

Or you can choose D'Nealian font.

I plan on doing all 1000 words and will create a set for it.  If you like them and would like me to create the entire set for purchase, leave a comment below or email immediately and I will make it my top priority!

If you want to know what I'm working on, just click on "Coming Soon" and read the list of games I'm going to post and games I'm currently working on. =D

A Semi - New Blog Look!

If you've noticed, I've been working on a new background. I think it turned out well for someone who knows very little about blog designs. I do hope next month to get it professionally done. Until then, I will have to settle for this. I think I've impressed myself. I made everything myself with just the paint program!

Yes! Now you can request custom games made specifically just for you. Click on the "Custom Game" link. It's a fairly simple process. These games will include new features such as "Hints", "Tie breakers", and "Winner's Slides".  You can even upload your own pictures and clip art to be used. They are a dollar extra, but you can share them with the teachers in your entire school.

Some of you don't know what I'm working on. Well, no worries anymore! Check out my "Coming Soon" page where I list the names of games I am going to post, games currently in the works, and where I stand  in custom games requests. You can even comment at the bottom of the page a certain topic you'd like to see be made into a game.

That's all for now. I will be adding another feature soon that can earn credit towards free games!
